Sick.... :(

Today was a long day, we had our usual lecture in the morning and three Inquisitions. I have yet to present my inquisition but I did get to present the student researcher project. I also dissected a sheep brain today. We didn't do anything too special today. I got sick after eating chicken at the v-dub so I was unable to take in the experience of dissecting a sheep brain.
Apart from doing the usual I found out that we will be having a college Q&A in our class on Thursday so I get to ask Dean Thompson about what Brown University is looking for in applicants.

I hope you feel better. I am sorry that the chicken you ate got you sick. You have explored many colleges and universities during the past few days, it might be time to take a break and get some rest. At times when we get ill it is a reminder that our body is telling us to take it easy.

I am glad that you are remaining proactive and seeking advice about the Brown University Admission process. Dean Thompson can share with you what she looks for in a high school student. Please ask her to give you an honest assessment of your talent and ability. She probably knows that you are hardworking, but ask her to focus on what can help you improve.

This type of assessment is the only way for you to grow and become better. Too often students want to hear only the positive. I have been with the Ivy League Connection for the past four years and without fail students become quiet when they receive disappointing news. This however that is the best time to be open and share the pain and sense of loss. Nonetheless, only the strong and wise realize that from their mistakes and missteps that they get better.

So, Carla get better! Take care of yourself, stay positive and good luck on your final assignments. You have been a wonderful ambassador at Brown.

Take care.

Carla,

I hope you are feeling better today.

I am glad you are thinking ahead to Thursday and asking Dean Thompson about what they are looking for in applicants. Be sure to get specifics -- ask HOW you would prove that you have these qualities. Ask for examples -- what works and what doesn't work. Do they want letters of recommendation? From whom? What needs to be emphasized?

Ask about the wait list process. And also, ask if the Brown process is most like -- or different from -- other schools.

I hope today is a better -- stay away from chicken. Keep appreciating each day as I know you do.
